Denzel began his journey as a Physical Educator while attending the University of Connecticut where he also played D1 football. Denzel graduated as a double-major in Psychology and Sociology, but his learning did not stop there. He is a passionate knowledge seeker and a natural born coach. His continuing education has resulted in many certifications including FMS, Precision Nutrition, ACE personal trainer, StrongFirst Level1/Level2 Kettlebell, StrongFirst Bodyweight, StrongFirst Lifter, and of course CPR/First Aid. He believes we are all lifelong students who never truly graduate.
His coaching philosophy focuses on quality over quantity. He has helped many of the people he has coached to feel, move, and perform better than they had ever before using proven training methodologies that efficiently improve performance while increasing longevity and decreasing the risk of injury. Denzel has coached a broad range of athletes from novices to professional athletes and has trained hundreds of coaches at StrongFirst certifications and workshops where he is a Team Leader.
When Denzel is not training clients at his own private fitness facility, StrengthDen, he is usually writing. He loves to share his knowledge with others and has been featured in many publications such as MensHealth, GQ, StrongFirst, and others.
At BIO, Denzel is instrumental to developing training programs and coaching our tactical athletes as part of our injury prevention programs.
