The Comfort Crisis
Michael Easter
February 2, 2026
Why we selected this book.
We’re diving into Michael Easter, the New York Times bestselling author and UNLV professor whose work on human performance is utilized by the NBA, MLB, and Special Forces. To write this book, Easter spent over a month in the Arctic wilderness, living in a tent and surviving on what he could carry. This wasn’t just a stunt; it was an experiment in evolutionary mismatch.
In "The Comfort Crisis", Easter argues that our modern obsession with 72-degree offices, infinite snacks, and constant digital stimulation is actually the root of our physical and mental decline. He challenges the "more is better" mantra of modern health, providing a scientific blueprint for reintroducing intentional discomfort—like boredom, hunger, and physical struggle—to unlock a more resilient, purposeful version of ourselves. It’s a call to leave the "safety" of the couch and reclaim the wild, capable humans we were evolved to be.

Atomic Habits
James Clear
January 5, 2026
Why we selected this book.
We’re kicking off 2026 with James Clear and his global phenomenon, "Atomic Habits". After a near-fatal head injury ended his athletic dreams, Clear, an Academic All-American with a degree in Biomechanics, used the science of small behaviors to rebuild his life. Now an advisor to Fortune 500 companies and pro sports teams (NFL, NBA, MLB), he brings a high-performance rigor to habit formation.
In this book, Clear dismantles the "willpower" myth, arguing that we don’t rise to our goals, we fall to our systems. Rather than pushing for massive overhauls, he provides a scientific framework to design an environment where success is the path of least resistance. It’s the ultimate guide to stop "trying harder" and start living better through smarter systems.
